Added The Ability to Include Discontinued Items

I have heard many complaints from customers that there are too many products on bowlingball.com that are “Not Available”.  When looking at a list of bowling balls or bowling shoes they would see them scattered throughout the list and wouldn’t understand why there were there.

“If they are not available, why do you keep them on the site?”

Our answer is simple, people like to look up information on older equipment.  They also like to compare old equipment to new equipment.  And the real die hard bowlers like to reminisce over older equipment.

Well now your searches will initially not contain the added bulk of these additional items.  But if you want to find them, all you have to do is check the box that say include discontinued items.

Hammer’s The Sauce Review

Hammer’s The Sauce is their first high performance bowling ball release in a long time. Hammer has had so much success with their Black Widow series of bowling balls, that it was time to introduce a high performance ball again.

Pin to PAP(4 1/4″ over 0″ up/down) – 5″
CG to PAP – 4 1/2″
Balance Hole – none
Surface Preparation – Box Finish

My Personal Review: The expectations that people have of this ball are correct. I have heard from some Hammer staff players that this was going to be an amazing bowling ball, and they were right. I only average in the 180’s currently, but absolutely love this ball. You will notice in our videos that I often get very little attention. That changed in the last video, this ball rolled so well for me that I had a bigger part than usual.

The ball cleared the heads easily, and had a strong continuation on the backends that sent pins flying.

I highly recommend this ball for bowlers of all skill levels.

Bowling Shoes

I haven’t gotten a new pair of bowling shoes in a few years. I have been using the [bowlingball value=”2117″/] and was ready for a new pair. Sure, I could have replaced the shoe strings and the replaceable soles, but what fun is that when you can have a brand new shiny pair of [bowlingball value=”6330″/]?

Dexter came in and showed us there 2008/2009 line of Dexter Bowling Shoes. I must say, the innovation in the [bowlingball value=”6330″/] is exceptional, especially from a business point of view. They made the bottoms of the shoes the exact same, which means that we don’t have to stock both left and right handed bowling shoes.

I have been using my new shoes now for about 4 weeks and really like them.  I have been playing with my slide sole a little bit, trying to slide a little less.  It’s not easy because I am used to sliding a lot.  I used to use S10, which is the most slide.  I have been able to adjust to an S8, and would like to work down to an S6 sometime soon.  I need much more practice though.

Great Night of Bowling: 590

Our bowling team finally took 7 points last night by winning all 3 games on our Thursday Night Men’s League.

I personally made a big change in my approach last night which caused me to play much farther left than I am used to.  But it was a great change.  My bowling ball reaction was so much better than usually.  I was way more consistent and only threw a handful of awful shots.

I started out the first game with my [bowlingball value=”6695″/].  I felt like I was making nice shots, but with a couple of pulled splits, I ended the game with a score of 175.  Like normal, if I don’t like my bowling ball reaction, then I try a different ball in my fill shot of the 10th.

Brian Halstrom helped me choose which bowling ball to change to.  He said I should try the [bowlingball value=”6303″/] on the same line, but stay aggressive.  I did and CRACK, strike.

I stayed with the [bowlingball value=”6303″/] for the final two games, only moving two boards left throughout the games.  The second game I scored a 202, and finished the night with a 213.

Overall, I have to credit the change in my game to moving back about two feet on the approach.  This helped me increase my bowling ball’s speed, but it did more than that.  I believe that it really helped improve my timing, which gave me great ball reaction.

Cell Pearl Ball Reaction Video

I am definitely not a good video editor, but I am happy with some of the work that I have done.

Here is my latest editing work, it is a [bowlingball value=”6695″/] bowling ball reaction video that I shot with my friends and co-workers, Tony Ruocco and Brian Halstrom.

One of these days I will get around to doing an actual show.  I know that Jeff McCord would tell me to stop delay and just do it already, like he did for his Moxie Mo Show.  Time and Place are the current concerns.

Roto-Grip Cell Pearl Ball Review

The [bowlingball value=”6695″/] is the follow up to the original [bowlingball value=”6053″/].  It features a pearl reactive coverstock  in place of the solid reactive coverstock.

Pin to PAP(4 1/4″ over 0″ up/down) – 4″
Mass Bias Position – 4″ from PAP
Pin Buffer – 1 1/2″
Balance Hole – none

Surface Preparation – Box Finish

My Personal Review:  I really liked the way this ball rolls.  Not only does it look great going down the lane, it also has the strongest backends of any of the equipment in my bag.  I am currently a 188 avg bowler that normally starts out standing 20 playing 10 at the arrows.  With this ball I am starting out standing at least 25 playing around 15.

Review of Cell Pearl

[bowlingball value=”6695,i150r”/]

My initial review of the [bowlingball value=”6695″/] is that the ball is very good.  I did not score well and I am a little frustrated with my lack of proper movement on the lane last night.  I thought about it after league and realized there are many things I would have changed.  I would like to test these before giving my final review.

I can comment on the look of the bowling ball.  It was awesome going down the lane.  I really liked the over all reaction of the ball, I was just playing it too far outside and not giving it a fair shake in the oil.  I will fix this and get a complete review of the [bowlingball value=”6695″/] up next week.

Testing the Roto-Grip Cell Pearl

[bowlingball value=”6695,i150r”/]

I am excited to bowl tonight. I get to test Roto-Grip’s newest release that comes out October 13, 2008, the [bowlingball value=”6695″/]. I know that the original [bowlingball value=”6053″/] was a fantastic bowling ball. I can only assume that the new bowling ball is going to go a little longer because of the pearlized coverstock and possibly store more energy for a great back end hook.

I am going to drill the ball with the #1 drilling layout. This layout has the Pin and Mass Bias 4″ from my PAP. I will post my review of the [bowlingball value=”6695″/] tomorrow.

Build Bowling Lanes in Your House

Have you ever desired to have a set of bowling lanes in your house? I just found a great website that details the plans and implementation of just that.

Chad at BasementBowling.com has spent a few months designing and building is own half scale bowling lanes in his basement. The last post I read was his first use of the lanes during his daughter’s birthday party. It sounded like it was a ton of fun and laughs.

We don’t have basements here in Florida, but it sure would be nice to find a space I could use to do something similar.
